My favorite food (or one of my top 5 foods) is sushi and so I was in some special food store the other day with a friend of mine and I saw like one of those little sushi things, like a little tray with a couple of rolls on it which is a bit expensive for how much you get. So my friend told me that she actually bought some ingredients to make sushi at home and that it's way cheaper that way. So I was like, well that sure sounds like the better option. I've made sushi before at home so I already had the little rolling mat thingy so long story short, we went to the regular grocery store and bought the rest of the ingredients and well, I made sushi!
All you need is:
-the little sushi rolling mat thingy *insert correct word here*
-nori which is just dried seaweed (I think)
-sushi rice (yes you do need a special one for best results)
-rice vinegar (to soak the rice with)
-soy sauce / wasabi / ginger (all depends on what you like for a topping)
-something to put in the roll: I used salmon and cucumber
There are usually instructions on the packages of the nori and the sushi rice so I'm not going to tell you how to do it since I'm not really an expert at it (yet). So I just cooked the rice first and then put everything on the nori, rolled it up and there was my sushi meal :) (I made two rolls btw and since I tend to put a lot of rice in them by accident, this was extremely filling)

As you can see there were some pieces of cucumber left so I just added these as decoration next to the sushi and the other stuff next to the cucumbers is ginger. The sauce is next to that plate in a little bowl which you can't see but it's just soy sauce mixed with a little bit of wasabi.
Really awesome meal and very healthy too (especially the nori and the salmon and cucumber filling) !! :)
Have you ever made sushi yourself?
